Drive from Bagdogra/NJP to Phuentsholing, After arriving in Phuentsholing, complete the check the Immigration formalities. Check into the hotel and relax. Phuentsholing- Phuentsholing is the border point for any goods and services entry/exit into Bhutan. Phuentsholing to Thimphu - 4 hours | 140 kms

After breakfast, begin your journey to Thimphu. The crowded atmosphere of Phuentsholing fades within half an hour as the drive uphill opens into refreshing landscapes. Enjoy the scenic transition from broadleaf forests to alpine zones, dotted with villages, waterfalls, hills, and mountains. Roadside stops offer tea/coffee breaks, restrooms, and photo opportunities at picturesque spots. En route, halt at Chuzom, where the rivers Thimphu and Paro meet. This tri-junction highway features a welcoming portrait of Bhutan’s King and Queen. Upon reaching Thimphu, if time permits, explore the city on foot—an experience filled with joy, modernity, and culture. The capital is also known as the world’s only city without traffic lights. Great for shopping, Thimphu offers imported garments, souvenirs, and unique local handicrafts. Overnight stay in Thimphu, altitude 2400m.

Thimphu Local -

himphu, Bhutan’s bustling capital, is the hub of commerce, religion, and government. Despite being the country’s most modern city with restaurants, cafes, nightclubs, and shopping centers, it still preserves its cultural identity and is famously known as the only city without traffic lights. Key attractions include the Buddha Viewpoint, home to the world’s largest sitting Buddha overlooking the valley; the Folk Heritage Museum, offering insights into Bhutanese life; and Sangaygang Viewpoint, with panoramic views of the city. Visit the Takin Zoo, dedicated to Bhutan’s national animal with its unique legend, and the Weaving Centre, where artisans showcase the intricate traditional art of weaving.

Thimphu to Phobjikha Valley - 4 hours | 130 kms

After your breakfast start your tour to Gangtey Monastery (75km). Enjoy your drive through dense rhododendron & oak forest.  Gangtey Monastery belongs to Nyingmapa sect of Buddhisn. It is situated in a pristine & beautiful valley in Western Bhutan. The monastery is named after Gangtey Village. Just a few kilometer away from Gangtey Monastery there is Phobjikha Valley. It is a bowl shaped glacial valley with an area of approx 163 sq.Km & lies approx 3000 meter above sea lavel. The valley is rich in biodiversity. Phobjikha Valley is winter home to black-necked cranes & many other endangered spices of the world. Drive back to Punakha/Wangdu for your overnight stay.

Phobjikha to Paro - 5 hours | 175 kms

After breakfast, drive back to Paro with a stop at Tachogang Lhakhang, where you can cross the Paro River or enjoy scenic views. Visit the Paro Airport Viewpoint, offering the best panorama of the entire airport. Explore Ta Dzong (National Museum), originally a 1649 watchtower later converted into a museum showcasing priceless historical collections. Next, see the 17th-century Paro Dzong – Fortress on a Heap of Jewels, one of Bhutan’s finest architectural marvels. Its massive buttressed walls dominate the valley and house the district’s administrative offices. Later, stroll through Paro town, known for its handicraft shops, Bhutan-made products, garments, groceries, and small restaurants.

Paro Local -

This picturesque region in the kingdom is covered in fertile rice fields and has a beautiful, crystalline river meandering down the valley. Paro has more of historical sites, high-end tourist resort and many souvenir shops for shopping including world famous Takstang. Taktsang Monastery (Tiger Nest Temple): is Bhutan’s most iconic landmark and religious Buddhist site in the world. The name Taktsang translates to “The Tiger’s Nest”. The temple is one of the holiest sites in Bhutan which clings impossibly to a sheer cliff face 900 meters above the valley. Although good trekkers can make it to the top in two hours, most of the guests take whole day to complete the hike.

Paro to Phuentsholing - 4 hours | 150 kms

After the breakfast, drive back to Phuentsholing. Phuentsholing is also good for buying inexpensive Bhutanese souvenirs and agro products for your relatives back home. Prepare yourself to exit from Bhutan. Roadside Stops: Leg stretch break for having tea/coffee, using restroom and taking photographs at scenic places like waterfalls, landscapes, and villages. Kharbandi/ Rinchending Gompa (based on your interest)- Monastery is built by Royal Grandmother in 1967. It is located on a picturesque hill overlooking the whole Phuentsholing town and beyond Torsa River far into distant till the sight disappears into a mountain. The site serves as an idle place to take photos with the town and the mountains acting as a perfect background. Overnight in Phuentsholing

Phuentsholing to Bagdogra/NJP - 4 hours | 150 kms
